Holiday Challah and Apple Pie with Extra Charm!
We knew the beach was only about ten minutes away. We enjoyed finding the path through the eucalyptus trees. Strapped with our activities to accomplish while there, we hoped to get some good work accomplished in a restful setting…
Rozalie had her notes for book writing , and for the presentations the next day.
I had a new, portable sound system for singing and playing guitar, so it was time to test it out in a public place (such as the beach!) So, in front of the refreshment stand, I asked Oriel, the storekeeper, if he had a favorite song. He requested “Hit the Road, Jack, and Don’t You Come Back!” Just in case he meant me, I sang and played as much as I could remember of the song, and he joined me, smiling, and said “You can come back here any time!” I played a few more songs and a small crowd gathered at the stand, bought drinks and sat a while. A lady asked me why I didn’t put my hat out. She handed me ten shekels! Such possibilities!
