We made it to the Synagogue! For our day of fasting, we decided to go to the water and rest in the peace of the WORD. While searching for a good place to look out over the beautiful sea, we found ruins with a tile mosaic floor on top of a squared structure. We climbed on top easily and loved the spot! After praying, reading, and relaxing awhile, we discovered we were spending our Yom Kippur on top of the remains of a synagogue, the only tangible sign of Jewish culture in ancient Ceasarea!
We finished our prayers with the blessing of the Mikveh, and yes, we went under the COLD COLD water!
That evening, Rozalie walked with Lesly for over an hour, to the synagogue in Hadera, for the prayer service and breaking of the fast.
Petra and I drove there to pick them up as soon as cars were permitted back on the streets.
