Israel Trip Fall 2016 – Day 14 Morning in Shiloh, Evening in Natanya

In the morning, we accompanied D’vorah to Shiloh, the ancient site of the Ark of the Covenant.  There, we met D’vorah’s friend, who showed us the Synagogue, and shared her interesting life there, in the orthodox Jewish community.  She fed us a fabulous Ethiopian style lunch and took us on a little walk to the ancient resting place of the Ark of the Covenant, before King David brought it to Jerusalem.  We tried to imagine how it would feel to live so close to such a holy place!

On the way, we traveled through some areas with electric fences, checkpoints, and soldiers with guns.  They didn’t all speak English but they did politely assist us, and we proceeded through just fine. We sang “David, Melech Yisrael” along the highway, and prayed for the Land.

For the evening, we drove to Natanya for a Royalty Banquet with Abundant Bread of Salvation (Brian Slater) and  a group of Israeli guests, mostly from Russia. Among them were survivors of the Holocaust.   Although there were a few interpreters, Rozalie found the most universal language: Grandbaby pictures!  Cell phones were passed back and forth all evening, and even the most seriously grumpy face had no choice but to smile and laugh when he saw Eva!

I got to sing for about 30 minutes at the beginning of the dinner, and walked around to each table to serenade after everyone was served.

Then Rozalie spoke, with Valery interpreting her English into Russian (the tough guy in the picture). The crowd was warm and responsive as she shared her family history and reached out to them as a daughter of Holocaust survivors.

Join us in Israel!
